Rottamazione-sexies: what really exists today

While a new settlement is only being talked about, the due dates of the settlements in force keep running: the list below shows those of the coming months, with the last useful day.

As of 26 October 2026 there is no rottamazione-sexies: no law, decree or approved bill sets its rules, periods or dates, so this site does not work out instalments or conditions for it. We will say so here when a text is published in the Gazzetta Ufficiale. Until then the existing settlements apply. The State quinquies, under Law 199 of 2025, closed applications on 30 April 2026 and covers debts passed on up to 31 December 2023. The quinquies for participating comuni and regions, under article 10-quinquies of Decree-Law 38 of 2026, accepts applications until 15 December 2026. The quater and the readmission carry on for those up to date until 30 November 2027. Anyone with debts passed on from 2024 onwards has no settlement today: they can pay, request an ordinary instalment plan or consider an appeal. Waiting for a law that does not exist exposes you to late interest, vehicle liens and seizures, and skipping an instalment of a running plan to wait for a new measure can lose the one you have.

What to do while waiting

If you have debts with a participating comune, the local-authority quinquies is the only open application. For recent debts the practical route is the instalment plan, which past settlements have often allowed to be folded into a new measure. Closed older measures are covered on the saldo e stralcio page. Texts reread on 26 October 2026.

Frequently asked questions

If the sexies arrives, will I be able to add lapsed quinquies debts?

Nobody can say before the text exists. In the past some laws readmitted debts from lapsed settlements, such as paragraph 99 of Law 199 of 2025, but it is not a rule: each settlement decides which debts it admits. Counting on that possibility to stop paying is a risky bet.

How have the rottamazioni followed one another so far?

The first tax bill settlement came with Decree-Law 193 of 2016, followed by the rottamazione-bis of Decree-Law 148 of 2017, the ter of Decree-Law 119 of 2018, the quater of Law 197 of 2022 and the quinquies of Law 199 of 2025, with the 2026 extension to local debts. Each had its own periods and rules.

How will I know if the rottamazione-sexies is approved?

A settlement becomes real only when the law or decree is published in the Gazzetta Ufficiale; then the collection agency publishes instructions and opens the application service. Announcements, amendments and drafts can change or vanish. This page is reread by hand and shows the date of the last check.
